Internet safety is high priority for all students and staff at the college.
Students and staff are expected to:
* Have and keep up to date virus protection software and take all reasonable steps to avoid distributing virus or malware to other CICD computer users.
* Not send junk or phishing email or encourage others to do so.
* Be aware that email attachments may carry viruses. If you are in doubt - do not open the email.
* Never download any software or files without up-to-date virus protection measures.
* Never visit hacking sites or download hacking or evidence eliminating software.
* Not intentionally visit, download or share material from internet sites that are likely to contain obscene, racist, hateful or other objectionable materials
Other precautions
You should never attempt to hack into any computer users’ accounts or onlinesystems in any way.
You should not intentionally interfere with the normal operation of CICD systems, including the propagation of computer viruses.
You should not cause sustained high-volume network traffic to CICD that makes it difficult for others to use the network.
CICD can block or quarantine any email or post to one of our websites or forums, if deemed necessary.
Acceptable standards of conduct
Software or information we have provided may only be used for educational purposes unless agreed otherwise. By beginning to study at CICD, you agree to follow all the licensing agreements for software that we have entered into.
Do not send offensive, obscene or abusive information.
Do not present your own opinions or any facts or other information from your own sources as if they are those of CICD or made on its behalf.
Any software, printed data or other information provided by CICD must not be copied or used without prior permission from CICD, software or information provider.
The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1998 gives copyright owners the right to bring civil proceedings if anyone breaks a copyright, and makes it a criminal offence to break certain copyrights. (Specific legislation relating to computer programmes can be found on the legislation.gov.uk website.)
CICD-s computing or network resources must not be used to share or publish material that is obscene, libellous or defamatory, or breaks our code of practice concerning harassment.
You agree to follow the conditions of the Computer Misuse Act (1990), the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, data protection legislation and other relevant Acts.
Don not do anything that damages the reputation of CICD, for example make threats against another student or a member of staff, share confidential information about the school, its students or staff, or make libellous statements about CICD on social media sites.
Blocking content
CICD may use software tools to block sites that are obscene, hateful or have other objectionable materials or may affect our operations.
Monitoring
In exceptional circumstances, we may have to use records of your contact with us and about your study to carry out our work or meet our legal obligations.
The Date Prodection Policy describes how we will manage these records.
For security and maintenance purposes, authorised individuals may monitor the data, systems and network traffic at any time to ensure compliance with the security policies, and effective operation of the systems at CICD.
You need to provide us with an email address for our correspondance with you.
Communicating by email
Check your email regularly. It is also your responsibility to manage any filters on your account to ensure that email from CICD is sent into your inbox and not to a spam or junk email folder.
Avoiding computer virus and malware
The integrity of our online security is jeopardised if you do not take precautions against malicious software. Do not jeopardise the integrity, performance or reliability of computers, networks, software and other stored information that belong to CICD or are used at CICD.
Social media policy
CICD uses various social media platforms to spread knowledge about our college and our programmes, and give people opportunity to get to know us and get involved.
However, using social media can come with risks. Unfortunately, some people take advantage of the distancing nature of the online space to behave in a way which would not be acceptable in a face-to-face encounter.
This policy aims to ensure that students and staff use social media appropriately and makes clear what is not acceptable online. The policy relates to posting or sharing content on any of CICD-s pages in Facebook, Instagram or other social media, in CICD social media groups as well as any aspect of online behaviour that is in any way linked to CICD.
Personal social media profiles and comments of members of staff or students are unlikely to be of interest for CICD, as long as no direct or indirect reference is made to it or to individuals or groups of students, employees or partners.
However, CICD may be concerned regarding communications that can be regarded as defamatory or misleading, that undermine professional credibility or integrity or safety of students, employees, partners and suppliers, or can damage the reputation of CICD.
Staff and students at CICD should adhere to sound social media ethics, and never engage in unacceptable behaviour including (but not limited to):
Cyberbullying, trolling, harassment, hate speech, collusion or cheating on assignments, posting or re-posting abuse, defamatory images or discriminatory material, or anything that may bring CICD into disrepute or threaten the safety of staff, students or anyone connected to the college.
Students and staff must observe data protection, privacy and copyright legislation, and not share materials without due acknowledgement of ownership or origin.
Personal information about other people should never be shared without explicit consent.
Never share confidential information relating to CICD or other organisations that are not already in the public domain.
Demonstrating connection
Staff and students should not appear to represent or speak on behalf of CICD with agreement with the management team.
CICD-s name and logo may only be used on our official social media accounts. They must not be used in any other groups or accounts.
Monitoring and reporting social media behaviour
If social media is used in ways that are contrary to the principles and spirit of this policy we reserve the right to take action in accordance with appropriate other policies.
This is so we can ensure that all members of the CICD community are kept safe online.
We monitor public references to CICD across social media including references or associations that could harm staff or students. This could result in comments being hidden, accounts being reported or blocked, or disciplinary action.
Examples of this include but are not limited to: confidential or financial information not in the public domain, information about litigation or possible litigation involving CICD, anything that may bring CICD into disrepute, or personal information shared without the explicit consent of the person concerned.
If you are subjected to, or witness, behaviour on social media as mentioned above, it should be reported with examples and screen-shots. Reports of concerns received will be progressed as appropriate according to the type of concern received.
Posts found to have broken the law will be reported to the police.
