Get a new perspective on history – investigate what is happening in Europe today and join people taking action. Learn about European reality through studies and investigation travel. Together with your team, bring your findings to the public.
The People for Change programme consists of 4 months:
- 7 weeks Preparation: Studies, planning and preparing the route.
- 6 weeks Investigation Travel: Meet activists and people fighting for change
- 4 weeks Bringing It to the Public: Conclusion and sharing your experiences with the public
7 weeks Preparation period: Studies, planning and preparing the route
You dig deep into the contradictions in Europe of today, looking at history and present day from a wider perspective: Women’s rights, the refugee crisis, media and truth telling, the effects of the climate crisis, economic inequality. Your team contacts movements and groups fighting for change, and contact some of them to meet during the travel. Together you work out your route and your stops. You also plan the products you want to make to share with the public in the 3rd period.
6 weeks Investigation Travel: Meet activists and people fighting for change
Your team travel through parts of Europe according to your planned route, making interviews and films, taking pictures and notes and recording your meetings and actions together with the people you visit. You face “the other side of Europe”…and at some of your stops you join in for some days, volunteering to support their work.
4 weeks Bringing It to the Public: Conclusion and sharing your experiences with the public
This period is a very important part of the programme. It gives you time to reflect and conclude on your experiences and achievements. You finalise your products - films, poems, presentations or… you name it! – and share as widely as you can!
And there is time to consider your next step – how do you want to use your new experiences and knowledge?
